PG&E is reporting a widespread outage affecting thousands of customers in Berkeley and many City buildings, including the Finance Customer Service Center and the Permit Service Center. Call respective City services for further details, or check the PG&E outage page. Power is expected to return by 12:45pm. Aquatics Programs

King Pool and West Campus Pool are currently open.  All swimmers must pre-register (online or by phone) in order to secure a swim slot (NO DROP-INS ALLOWED). 45 minutes time slots are available for pre-registration.  One registration allowed per day between both pools.  For information regarding pool schedules, please see below.  Click on the green button below to register.

Pool Schedules and Operational Procedures

Resident/Non-Resident Registration Information:

    • West Campus Pool Programs: Registration opens Wednesdays at 8:30am for following week's programs (Monday-Sunday)*
      • Phone Registration starts at 9:00am
    • King Pool Programs: Registration opens Wednesdays at 12:30pm for following week's programs (Monday-Sunday)*
      • Phone Registration starts at 1:00pm
    • Registration opens Fridays at 3:00pm for all programs for the following week (Monday-Sunday)*
NEW: We are expanding our registration maximums to allow additional swims each week.  Registration maximums will be still be limited to 3 swims per week (one swim slot per day between both pools) during our initial registration period.  Starting on Saturdays, swimmers who are interested in additional swim opportunities, in addition to their initial 3 swims, can register for any remaining slots that are still available.

The City offers a free Shower Program daily at West Campus Pool.  Program is closed during city holidays (see above for closure schedule).

Scholarships are available provided applicant meets eligibility and verification requirements. You must submit an application and documentation at the time of registration. Scholarship applications can be obtained at any of the Community Centers or at Recreation Administration, and on the website.

Aquatics Refund Policy

  • No refunds will be issued for any daily swim slot registrations (Lap Swim, Independent Exercise, Family Swim, etc.), except for medical reasons.
    • Refund Requests due to medical reasons must be sent directly to our Recreation Customer Service Hub and must include a Doctor’s note. 
    • Requests should be emailed to recreation@cityofberkeley.info. 
  • Credits will be issued if the City of Berkeley cancels programs for any unforeseen circumstances.


Recreation Division Refund Policy
All requests for refunds must be directed to the Recreation & Youth Services Manager, Recreation Division, 1720 8th Street, Berkeley, CA 94710. The original receipt must be submitted with a written request for a refund. The request must state the reason for the refund, and the date, time and location of the program. The Rec­reation and Youth Services Manager will render a decision to either: 1) refund the fee; 2) pro-rate the fee; 3) apply the fees to another session or program; or 4) deny the request. No refunds or credit will be granted without 7 days notice prior to start of class or date of reservation. The City will deduct 25% of the amount paid from the refund to cover administration expenses or will add a minimum $10.00 service charge.
