Second Suspect in Willis-Starbuck
Homicide Arrested

Hollis Photo Berkeley, California (Saturday September 24, 2005) On Friday September 23rd, Fresno Police Arrested Christopher Hollis on a Berkeley Homicide Warrant.

This case stems from the shooting death of Meleia Willis-Starbuck that occurred during the early morning hours of July 17th in the area of College Avenue and Dwight Way.

The incident stemmed from an argument that Willis-Starbuck and her friends had with a group of men.  Investigators identified Christopher Hollis as the person who shot Starbuck and Christopher Wilson as the person who drove the get away car from the scene.  Homicide Detectives obtained search and arrest warrants for both men and served them within days of the shooting.  Wilson turned himself in to the Berkeley Police as a result of the warrants while Hollis remained at large for over two months.

On Friday, Hollis was stopped by the Fresno Police Department for an unrelated violation.  He was ultimately identified and arrested on the homicide warrant and was transported to the Berkeley City Jail early Saturday morning.  Hollis is being held without bail on homicide charges and will be arraigned in Alameda County Superior Court on Tuesday.

Detective  Lionell Dozier, the lead investigator in this case said, Ultimately, we knew that it was only a matter of time before Hollis was arrested for his role in the death of Meleia.  We are happy to see closure in this phase of the investigation.
