RENEW YOUR 2019-2020 RESIDENTIAL PARKING PERMIT ONLINE OR IN PERSON
Two ways to renew online or come in person

Berkeley, California (Monday, July 22, 2019) - Use our new online portal to renew your residential parking permit or sign up for a new one.

There are three ways to get a permit:

  1. For residential permit renewals through July 31, 2019, you can use a link code that was mailed to you and use the online portal. If you lost the code, you can call 311 (510-981-2489). Customer service staff can email or mail you the code. Registration is instant.
  2. Register your existing or new vehicle by uploading to our online portal two documents every driver should have: license and vehicle registration.
  3. In person, bring your license and registration and we'll guide you through the process

Customer Service Center:
1947 Center Street, Berkeley, CA 94704
Mon-Thu: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Closed Fridays

Renew by Sept. 1, 2019, when we will start enforcement in those neighborhoods designated as residential permit neighborhoods.  Your existing license plate will be the permit.

You can also use a new portal we've created to pay for parking citations.

For those who received citations before June 24, we had suspended timelines and they were not incurring fines. Those payments are live starting July 22, when the timelines for payment have started.

If you have questions, you can call 311 (510-981-2489) to get our general customer service line.

Parking enforcement officers have been using license plate recognition technology since 2016. Our privacy policy is that no data is kept for more than 30 days unless we take action, such as through a citation or violation found. Violation data is kept for 1 year. This database is a closed system, unlinked to any other database, such as DMV databases.

Please use our online portal for residential parking permits and as well our online portal for parking citations. Please contact customer service if you have any questions.
