The City of Berkeley Health Officer has ordered all residents to shelter at home, leaving only to receive or provide essential services, starting 12:01 am on Tuesday, March 17. PG&E is reporting a widespread outage affecting thousands of customers in Berkeley and many City buildings, including the Finance Customer Service Center and the Permit Service Center. The City of Berkeley funds the emergency storm shelter for people who are living on the streets in Berkeley. The shelter will open when temperature is below 45°F or rain forecast with greater then 50% certainty or Air Quality Index (AQI) higher than 151. Each evening, any vacant beds are filled on a first-come, first-served basis at 7PM each night. Currently, the shelter is not open.

 

The City of Berkeley Health Officer has ordered residents to shelter in place through May 3, 2020 in response to COVID-19. Please see the list below for changes to homeless services and operations.
