The City of Berkeley Health Officer has ordered all residents to shelter at home, leaving only to receive or provide essential services, starting 12:01 am on Tuesday, March 17. See details of the Order, frequently asked questions, and recommendations from Berkeley Public Health at https://www.cityofberkeley.info/coronavirus.

The City of Berkeley web site is undergoing scheduled maintenance starting on Friday night, September 13 and ending on Saturday afternoon, September 14. During this time, most web pages should be available, but some resources may become unavailable for short periods of time.

PG&E is reporting a widespread outage affecting thousands of customers in Berkeley and many City buildings, including the Finance Customer Service Center and the Permit Service Center. Call respective City services for further details, or check the PG&E outage page. Power is expected to return by 12:45pm. Traffic lights that are not working should be treated as a four-way stop sign.

COVID-19 (Coronavirus)

Everyone should stay home as much as possible to reduce spread of COVID-19. Leave home only for essential needs, and stay 6 feet away from others as much as possible when out. Don't socialize in person with people who don't live with you.

We are accepting donations of masks, gloves, and other protective equipment to support Berkeley's emergency response. If you have supplies in sealed packages you're able to donate, let us know.

Confirmed cases in Berkeley

As of 10:00am April 3, 2020, there are 27 lab-confirmed cases and 0 deaths attributed to COVID-19 in Berkeley. 

This number only reflects lab-confirmed cases, not the total number of people in Berkeley infected with COVID-19, which we know is much larger. Data shows that there is substantial community spread in our area. Many people with COVID-19 experience mild or no symptoms, but they can still spread the disease to others. Additionally, many people with symptoms are not included in this number due to limitations on testing.
