PG&E is reporting a widespread outage affecting thousands of customers in Berkeley and many City buildings, including the Finance Customer Service Center and the Permit Service Center. Call respective City services for further details, or check the PG&E outage page. Power is expected to return by 12:45pm. Traffic lights that are not working should be treated as a four-way stop sign.

Proof of Vaccination

This Order requires that certain businesses require and obtain proof of full vaccination from all workers and further requires that certain businesses check proof of full vaccination of patrons 12 years and older prior to allowing a patron’s entry to an indoor portion of the business’s facility.

Face Coverings Indoors

This Order requires all individuals, regardless of vaccination status, to wear face coverings when indoors in public settings, with limited exceptions.

This Order goes went into effect August 3, 2021 at 12:01 am. This order was updated on November 1, 2021 to allow certain regularly gathering, fully vaccinated groups the option to unmask if they follow specific additional public health measures.

Isolation & Quarantine

These Orders, issued concurrently, require people who have been diagnosed with or who are likely to have COVID-19 to isolate themselves until at least 1 day has passed since recovery and at least 10 days have passed since symptoms first appeared. The Orders also require people who are not yet fully vaccinated to quarantine themselves if they have been exposed through close contact with someone who has COVID-19, including household contacts, intimate partners, and caregivers.

The Quarantine Order was updated on October 28, 2021 to reflect new CDPH recommendation for vaccinated contacts to be tested 5-7 days after exposure.
