PG&E is reporting a widespread outage affecting thousands of customers in Berkeley and many City buildings, including the Finance Customer Service Center and the Permit Service Center. Call respective City services for further details, or check the PG&E outage page. Power is expected to return by 12:45pm. Traffic lights that are not working should be treated as a four-way stop sign.

Public bid openings will be at 2180 Milvia Street in the 1st floor conference room. The location of bid opening at the 1st floor conference room may change as needed to accommodate the number of attendees.

Staff will be present to direct the bidders to the bid opening, and staff will attend to the front door beginning 15 minutes prior to the bid opening.

Attendees at any public bid opening shall maintain recommended social requirements, such as maintaining face coverings and separation (six feet minimum), for the duration of the meet.

Scope of Work: The work done under these plans and specifications includes but is not limited to: maintenance activities including the removal of accumulated sediment within and around the tide tubes, tide gate structure and in the lagoon adjacent to the tide gates, removal of broken pipe fragments at the Bay side of the tubes, adjustment of the riprap along the shoreline, and replacement of the tide gate winches, as specified.

Required Contractor’s License(s): A California “A" General Engineering contractor’s license is required to bid this contract.

Non-Mandatory Pre-Bid Site Visit: A non-mandatory pre-bid meeting will be held for all contractors to visit and examine the tide tubes at the lagoon and Bay side. The meeting will take place at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, May 12th, 2020. Prospective bidders shall meet at Aquatic Park South Lot, Berkeley, CA. (https://goo.gl/maps/mkuvDzjeYCsQZD9K7). These work areas are accessible to the public during normal business hours and prospective bidders are encouraged to visit the site prior to submitting a bid. The working area on the bay side is submerged unless there is a low tide of -1.0’ MLLW or lower. Prospective bidders are highly encouraged to view the work area on the Bay side when it is fully exposed prior to bidding.

Attendees to the Pre-Bid Meeting must adhere to the City’s recommended current safety precautions, Order to Shelter at Place, and comply with “Social Distancing Requirements”, noting that public works construction is essential infrastructure under Section 13.f.v.4 of the Order.
