PG&E is reporting a widespread outage affecting thousands of customers in Berkeley and many City buildings, including the Finance Customer Service Center and the Permit Service Center. Call respective City services for further details, or check the PG&E outage page. Power is expected to return by 12:45pm. Traffic lights that are not working should be treated as a four-way stop sign.

Ad-Hoc Subcommittee on NCRIC and Urban Shield 


On June 20, 2017, the Berkeley City Council established an ad-hoc subcommittee to review the City's participation in Urban Shield and the Northern California Regional Intelligence Center (NCRIC). The Subcommittee is charged with evaluating these programs and making recommendations on whether the City should continue to participate in Urban Shield and NCRIC. The subcommittee is comprised of Mayor Jesse Arreguin, Councilmember Cheryl Davila, Councilmember Kate Harrison, and Councilmember Susan Wengraf. 


The will be no more meetings of the Subcommittee, as it sunsetted on June 20, 2018. The findings and recommendations of the Subcommittee will be discussed and voted on at a special meeting of the Berkeley City Council on Monday, July 23rd at 4pm at the Council Chambers, 2134 MLK Jr Way.
