PG&E is reporting a widespread outage affecting thousands of customers in Berkeley and many City buildings, including the Finance Customer Service Center and the Permit Service Center. Call respective City services for further details, or check the PG&E outage page. Power is expected to return by 12:45pm. Traffic lights that are not working should be treated as a four-way stop sign.

BERKELEY RENT STABILIZATION BOARD

2016/2017 FISCAL YEAR  
ANNUAL REGISTRATION FEE 

At a special meeting held on May 11, 2016, following a public hearing held on May 2, 2016, the City of Berkeley Rent Stabilization Board adopted Resolution 16-01 setting the annual fiscal year 2016/17 registration fee at $234 per unit effective July 1, 2016.  The Board also adopted Resolution 16-02 giving authorization to directly pass through to certain tenants a portion of 2017’s registration fee, not already included as a part of previous Annual General Adjustments, as a temporary general adjustment of rent ceilings, by up to $8 per month.  Rent Board staff were also asked to develop a mechanism that allows low-income tenants (at 40% of Area Median Income) to be reimbursed for any pass-through.
