Location: the Rent Stabilization Board Office

Facilitated by a Rent Board staff attorney, this seminar is a must for any landlord who wants to understand evictions in Berkeley. This workshop will cover state and Berkeley-specific eviction laws, including the Eviction for Good Cause Ordinance and owner move-in evictions.

This workshop will cover how to comply with local and state laws regarding security deposits, including the purpose of security deposits, lawful deposit deductions, resolving security deposit conflicts, and security deposit interest.

Location: Berkeley Central Library, 2090 Kittredge Street, 3rd Floor, Community Room

This workshop is facilitated by Rent Board Housing Counselors and includes Q and A with local housing attorneys. We will provide an overview of tenant rights with an emphasis on the specific rights and responsibilities of long-term tenants. We will discuss rent regulation and eviction protections, responding to harassment, and how to ensure that you have safe and habitable housing.

Understanding Rent Levels and Allowable Rent Increases in Berkeley: A Workshop for Landlords
Tuesday, May 7th        6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.
Location: Berkeley Central Library, 2090 Kittredge Street, 3rd Floor, Community Room

This landlord workshop covers the ins and outs of rent levels and lawful rent increases in Berkeley. Topics include: Allowable rent increases and rent ceilings; the Annual General Adjustment; and resetting the rent to market under local and state law.

Location: the Rent Stabilization Board Office
Are you considering subletting your apartment or room? Moving in a new roommate? Are you a subtenant yourself? Join Rent Board Housing Counselors to discuss the pros, cons, and rent control implications of subletting. We will also review how to determine if you can have a subtenant or roommate, how to screen potential roommates, and resources for mediating disputes.
