PG&E is reporting a widespread outage affecting thousands of customers in Berkeley and many City buildings, including the Finance Customer Service Center and the Permit Service Center. Call respective City services for further details, or check the PG&E outage page. Power is expected to return by 12:45pm. Traffic lights that are not working should be treated as a four-way stop sign.

The Telegraph Channing Garage (2450 Durant Avenue) and Center Street Garage (2025 Center Street) are open for off-street parking, with reduced hours (closing at 10pm). The Oxford Garage (2165 Kittredge Street) is closed.

Make parking reservations at the Center Street Garage using ParkMobile!

Using the ParkMobile website, you are now able to reserve and pay for hourly and event parking at the Center Street Garage before you go, so there's a space reserved for you when you arrive. Parkmobile currently provides pay-by-phone services at all of the City's on-street parking meters. 

To reserve parking using Parkmobile: 

  1. Visit the Parkmobile website at https://parkmobile.io and click on the "Reserve Parking" link at the top right of the page. In the app, go to the "Reserve" tab at the bottom of the screen. 
  2. Search for "Berkeley, California," and indicate the desired beginning and ending times of your reservation at the top of the page. 
  3. Click the "Reserve" button for the Center Street Garage in the left hand panel. 
  4. Log in to your Parkmobile account (to create an account, click on the link to Sign Up). 
  5. After your purchase is complete, you will be able to view or print your parking pass. The pass includes a QR code, so you can use the pass on your phone to gain entry to the Garage.
  6. Once you arrive at the Garage, simply scan your parking pass at the entrance, and then park your car!

Off-Street Parking in Berkeley

The City of Berkeley owns and operates three public parking garages and one off-street parking lot.

  • Public Parking Garages: The Center Street and Telegraph Channing Garages are conveniently located and fully automated parking facilities. Each garage accepts coin, currency, and credit card (Visa, MasterCard) payment methods, at pay-on-foot (POF) machines within the facilities. The Oxford Garage is temporarily closed. 
  • Surface Parking Lot: The Elmwood Lot is located on Russell St. just west of College Ave., in the Elmwood district.

 Designated motorcycle parking is located on level 2A, or motorcycles may park in regular marked spaces throughout the garage; hourly rates are in effect.

Free Disabled Parking Program is offered at City Garages - The City of Berkeley invites all of our parking patrons with valid Disabled Parking (DP) placards to register in a “Free DP Card-Key Program” at all City Garages. The application is linked hereThe one-time cost for the card key is $15. By registering your DP placard or license plate and receiving a new Key Card, you can park free in the City garages, spend less time in the garage, and more time at your desired destinations. You are not required to register, however, hourly garage rates will apply to all DP placard and license plate holders who do not register for the free parking program.
