17-11090-C - Shattuck Reconfiguration & Pedestrian Safety Project, Federal Aid Project No. STPL-5057(045)

Scope of Work: The work of the project is divided into two parts: Base Bid (Part A work) and Bid Alternate (Part B work). The work to be performed under these specifications generally includes but is not limited to: development of a construction phasing plan and traffic control plans; rehabilitation of asphalt concrete pavements; installation of Portland cement concrete pavement; construction of sidewalk, curb and gutter, and roadway medians; reconstruction of curb ramps, demolition and removal of concrete sidewalk, curb, and gutter; installation of temporary and permanent traffic signals and/or lighting; landscaping; drainage improvements; installation of thermoplastic pavement markings; installation of traffic signs; and traffic control. Bidders are hereby advised that the work in the Shattuck Avenue business district requires adherence to strict construction phasing and traffic control requirements to allow public access at all times. Bidders are strongly advised to visit the project site prior to bidding.

California Contractor License Classification required: A - General Engineering. The contractor shall possess a Class A license at the time this contract is awarded.

The DBE contract goal for this project is 13.0%.
This project is subject to the "Buy America" provisions of the Surface Transportation Assistance Act of 1982 as amended by the Intermodal Surface Transportation Efficiency Act of 1991.

Contractor shall submit all Contract Documents in a timely manner. Notice to Proceed is anticipated to be issued by December 12, 2018. The Contractor is anticipated to mobilize and begin work on site by January 7, 2019.

The Engineer’s estimate for the work is $6 million for Base Bid and $7.2 million for Base Bid + Bid Alternate.

A Pre-Bid Meeting will be held on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at 10:00 a.m., in the Cypress Conference Room, located at 2180 Milvia Street, 1st Floor, Berkeley, CA. Attendance at the Pre-Bid Meeting is not mandatory.

Duration:

This work shall be diligently prosecuted to completion before the expiration of 340 WORKING DAYS for Base Bid (Part A) work, or 400 WORKING DAYS for Base Bid + Bid Alternate (Part A + Part B) work, whichever is applicable, beginning on the fifteenth calendar day after approval of the contract.

The term of the contract (for Part A) is Three Hundred Sixty (360) WORKING days, which includes an additional Twenty (20) WORKING days for project closeout beyond the above construction time. If the Bid Alternate (Part A + Part B) is awarded, the term of the contract is Four Hundred Twenty (420) WORKING days which includes an additional Twenty (20) WORKING days for project closeout beyond the above construction time.

Location:

The work is generally located on both legs of Shattuck Avenue (West and East), between University Avenue and Allston Way in the City of Berkeley. The limits of work are shown on the project plans.

18-11210-C - San Pablo Park Restroom Renovation

Project Description: The work to be done consists of removal and disposal of existingroof down to the deck, installing a new roofing system, replace and repair decking and skylights, perform interior improvements include replacement of existing toilet fixtures, removal of interior walls, infill existing door openings, installation of new lighting, and ventilation fans, doing all appurtenant work in place and ready for use, including ancillary work in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Contract Documents.

California Contractor License Classification required: A California “B”, contractor’s license is required to bid this contract. Joint ventures must secure a joint venture license prior to award of this Contract. Specialty work may require a specialty contractor’s license.

Base Bid: $445,000
Additive Alternates: $50,000

Non-Mandatory Pre-Bid Site Visit: City will conduct a Non-Mandatory Pre-Bid Conference and Site Visit at 2800 Park St., Berkeley, CA 94702, at 1:30 PM, Wednesday, August 29, 2018. The location of work is open to the public during normal business or daylight hours with the exception of the storage/shower areas. It is recommended that potential bidders visit the site independently to review site conditions prior to bid.
