PG&E is reporting a widespread outage affecting thousands of customers in Berkeley and many City buildings, including the Finance Customer Service Center and the Permit Service Center. Call respective City services for further details, or check the PG&E outage page. Power is expected to return by 12:45pm. Traffic lights that are not working should be treated as a four-way stop sign.

Civilian oversight is a powerful tool for building transparency and community trust in policing.

Berkeley voters overwhelmingly approved the creation of a new Police Accountability Board in November 2020. The Board will replace the Police Review Commission, established in 1973. The Board is a modernization and an expansion of tools for meaningful oversight in the 21st century.

The Berkeley City Council is currently seeking candidates for the Police Accountability Board, to be seated by July of this year. Click on the links below for more information, and for a copy of the application. There’s also a link to the ballot measure creating the Board. Please share this information with community members and organizations that may have an interest in the Board.

The deadline to submit applications is 5:00 p.m., Monday, March 22, 2021.
