Support Services Division
The Support Services Division is the second largest division within the Berkeley Police Department and is commanded by Captain Jen Louis with the support of one Lieutenant and a Communications Center Manager. In addition to Captain Louis, Lieutenant Kevin Reece, and Communications Center Manager Monique Frost, the Division also consists of one Sergeant and one Professional Staff Supervisor, 2 Sworn Officers, 4 Supervising Public Safety Dispatchers, 21 Public Safety Dispatchers, 16 Community Service Officers, 5 Reserve Officers, and 5 Professional Staff. These men and women may not be seen out in the community very often, and yet they work each day to make it possible for our department to provide the community with an outstanding level of service. The members of this Division work in collaboration with, and support of officers, professional staff, a variety of other law enforcement, non-law enforcement agencies and other City of Berkeley Departments as well as a variety of other entities.
Support Services personnel perform a wide range of duties that include operating the Berkeley Police and Fire Communications Center and the Berkeley City Jail, managing the Property and Evidence Unit, locating outstanding arrest warrants, preparing reports and other material for review by the District Attorney's Office, handling Public Record Act requests and confidential police records as well as tending to the needs and requests of community members and guests who visit the Front Counter of the Berkeley Police Department.
