Professional Standards Division

The Professional Standards Division is comprised of the Personnel and Training Bureau,the Professional Standards Bureau, the Berkeley Jail, the Records Bureau and the Property and Evidence Unit and is under the command of Captain Rico Rolleri.  The Professional Standards Division is tasked with ensuring that a high standard of professionalism and excellence in law enforcement continues to exist within the City of  Berkeley Police Department.general

The Professional Standards Bureau is responsible for developing and reviewing policy, conducting internal audits and inspections, and examining procedures throughout the department for efficiency and policy compliance.  The Professional Standards Bureau looks for opportunities to streamline procedures and improve systems to make department more efficient, effective and accountable.  The Bureau is staffed by one Lieutenant and two Sergeants.  

The Bureau is undertaking welcome challenges in revising Department policy to make certain that they reflect best practices and current case law, attending a series of informative trainings, familiarity courses and seminars.
