PG&E is reporting a widespread outage affecting thousands of customers in Berkeley and many City buildings, including the Finance Customer Service Center and the Permit Service Center. Call respective City services for further details, or check the PG&E outage page. Power is expected to return by 12:45pm. Traffic lights that are not working should be treated as a four-way stop sign.

Skate Park Programs

The Berkeley Skate Park is open with updated hours of operation and new safety procedures.

The Berkeley Skate Park, located at Harrison Park (711 Harrison St.), an 18,000 square foot park that contains a large oval bowl and, fun box and areas for beginners. This site will provide you with program, special event, and rental information. Use of the park is free. Helmets required. Pads are recommended. No bikes, no scooters allowed. The Skate Park will be closed during clinics, events and rainy weather. All classes cancelled during rain.

COVID-19 safety procedures

  • Help keep the Berkeley Skate Park safe as we navigate through COVID-19 by observing the following procedures.

  • Staff will be controlling the entrance to the park. Only a limited number of skaters will be allowed in the park at a time to allow for social distancing. 

  • Users can pre-register for skate times online (limit one 1-hour registration per skater per day). All other available slots will be filled on a first come, first served basis.

  • Please observe the recommended social distancing of 6 feet while in the park. If you are waiting to drop-in, please start your run at one of the 6 designated areas that are marked throughout the park. If someone is waiting in a place where you would like to start your run from, please allow the person in front to go before you start your run while maintaining a social distance of 6 feet.

  • Please observe and follow the direction of traffic that is detailed on the map.  When skating the bowl, please do not finish your run at the drop-in point.

  • Masks are required while skating and must be worn while waiting in line or outside the park.

  • All skaters must follow rules and directions from staff, or they will be asked to leave.

Scholarships

Scholarships are available provided applicant meets eligibility and verification requirements. You must submit an application and documentation at the time of registration. Scholarship applications can be obtained at any of the Community Centers or at Recreation Administration, and on the website.
Refund Policy
All requests for refunds must be directed to the Recreation & Youth Services Manager, Recreation Division, 2701 Telegraph Avenue, Berkeley, CA 94705. The original receipt must be submitted with a written request for a refund. The request must state the reason for the refund, and the date, time and location of the program. The Rec­reation and Youth Services Manager will render a decision to either: 1) refund the fee; 2) pro-rate the fee; 3) apply the fees to another session or program; or 4) deny the request.
No refunds or credit will be granted without 7 days notice prior to start of class or date of reservation. The City will deduct 25% of the amount paid from the refund to cover administration expenses or will add a minimum $10.00 service charge.
