PG&E is reporting a widespread outage affecting thousands of customers in Berkeley and many City buildings, including the Finance Customer Service Center and the Permit Service Center. Call respective City services for further details, or check the PG&E outage page. Power is expected to return by 12:45pm. Traffic lights that are not working should be treated as a four-way stop sign.

Aquatics Programs

City of Berkeley pools re-opened on September 16, 2020.  CLICK HERE for more information. Pools may close when air quality is poor. Click here for pool status updates during smoke events.

Pool Re-Opening information 

King Pool and West Campus Pool are currently open for Lap Swim (16+) and Independent Exercise (18+).  All swimmers must pre-register (online or by phone) in order to secure a lane (NO DROP-INS ALLOWED). 45 minutes time slots are available for pre-registration.  One registration allowed per day between both pools.  Locker rooms are CLOSED (except for restroom use).   • Starting 9/28/20, we will be allowing two swimmers per lane during Lap Swim.  
  • Starting 10/5/20, we will be expanding our program offerings:
    • Independent Exercise (Shallow Pool) at both Pools (see pool schedules below).
    • Family Swim (Shallow Pool) at both Pools (see pool schedules below).
    • Barracudas Training Camp - Open to returning Barracudas participants; Registration will be on a first come, first served basis.

Scholarships are available provided applicant meets eligibility and verification requirements. You must submit an application and documentation at the time of registration. Scholarship applications can be obtained at any of the Community Centers or at Recreation Administration, and on the website.

Refund Policy
All requests for refunds must be directed to the Recreation & Youth Services Manager, Recreation Division, 2701 Telegraph Avenue, Berkeley, CA 94705. The original receipt must be submitted with a written request for a refund. The request must state the reason for the refund, and the date, time and location of the program. The Rec­reation and Youth Services Manager will render a decision to either: 1) refund the fee; 2) pro-rate the fee; 3) apply the fees to another session or program; or 4) deny the request. No refunds or credit will be granted without 7 days notice prior to start of class or date of reservation. The City will deduct 25% of the amount paid from the refund to cover administration expenses or will add a minimum $10.00 service charge.
