PG&E is reporting a widespread outage affecting thousands of customers in Berkeley and many City buildings, including the Finance Customer Service Center and the Permit Service Center. Call respective City services for further details, or check the PG&E outage page. Power is expected to return by 12:45pm. Traffic lights that are not working should be treated as a four-way stop sign.

 Visiting Us - Berkeley Marina Experience Program/ Shorebird Park Nature Center is located at 160 University Avenue of the City of Berkeley, on the south side of the Berkeley Marina area.  The office phone number is (510) 981-6720.

You will see signs showing the specific location of Shorebird Nature Center and the Adventure Playground (Note: the red cross on the map below). 





Driving Directions
From  South 580 or 80: Take Interstate 80 to Powell St. take a left under the freeway and right onto Frontage Rd. Follow Frontage Rd. to University Ave Seabreeze Market is on the corner. Take a left onto University and follow the directions for parking below.

From North : Take Interstate 80 and get off at the University Avenue exit in Berkeley. Take a left  onto University toward the Bay follow the directions for parking below. 

From South 880: Take the University Ave. exit and the lower ramp that goes under the freeway. Take a right at the first intersection (Hearst) go up Hearst to 6th St. (light) take a right onto 6th and the next  right onto University. Go over the overpass and continue straight into the Marina. Follow the directions for parking below.

Parking: After entering the Marina, you will come to an intersection with a stop sign where you must turn either left or right. Come to a stop, and veer to the left. Continue down University to parking. As the road straightens out, you will see a wide open parking lot on the left. At the West end of this lot is the Adventure Playground. Parking is here. Continuing a little farther down University you will see a sign for the Nature Center on your left. Across the street from this on your right is the entrance to the closest parking lot. If you go too far, you will come to the Berkeley Pier (now closed).

Parking is free (except for the 4th of July and the 3rd weekend in July for the Kite Festival).
Parking availability is limited during special events such as the Bay Festival and 4th of July. Carpooling and using public transportation are encouraged. The Bay Trail and pedestrian overpass make bike riding easy.

Public Transportation
Take BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit)
Richmond-bound train to Downtown Berkeley Station.

Exit the BART station then

Take Bus 51B (Destination: Berkeley Marina)
Whose bus stop in Downtown Berkeley is located on Shattuck Avenue at Center. Take a stroll eastward to Shorebird Park after getting off the bus at its destination.
