The Parks, Recreation and Waterfront Department (PRW) is made up of five divisions; Parks Maintenance, Recreation and Youth Services, Waterfront, Capital Projects and the Administration Division which supports the entire department. PRW is committed to administering excellent recreation programs at our centers, resident camps, waterfront and parks; maintaining our municipal urban forest, landscaping and infrastructure; and developing capital projects that create community.
As City playgrounds open, caregivers should use masks, distance, time limits and other precautions - All of the City's 66 playgrounds are now open -- but everyone should use caution as high-touch shared surfaces and gathering places for crowds remain potential sources of virus transmission.
Those risks are always present at playgrounds, especially in flu season. But increased vigilance is needed for COVID-19, a disease for which there is neither vaccine nor treatment. [more...]
Tennis Courts -
Tennis and pickleball courts are now open (except for Rose Garden at 1200 Euclid Avenue which is closed for construction). Reservations can be made online. Players must follow safety rules to use the courts.
The City of Berkeley Health Officer has ordered residents to shelter in place, leaving only for essential needs. Most City facilities are closed to the public. Read the latest changes to City services and COVID-19 information from Berkeley Public Health.
