PG&E is reporting a widespread outage affecting thousands of customers in Berkeley and many City buildings, including the Finance Customer Service Center and the Permit Service Center. Call respective City services for further details, or check the PG&E outage page. Power is expected to return by 12:45pm. Traffic lights that are not working should be treated as a four-way stop sign.

Missed Refuse or Plant Debris Pick-ups

Missed pickups must be reported no later than 5:00 p.m. the business day following the missed pick up (Monday - Friday) either by filling out an Online Service Request Form or by calling (510) 981-7270. See table below for reference.  Please remember to include your address and which service was missed (refuse or plant debris).

Refuse Holidays

There is NO City of Berkeley Collection Service for Refuse, Recycling or Plant Debris on these Holidays:

  • Thanksgiving Day
  • Christmas Day
  • New Year's Day

Refuse, recycling and plant debris collection that is normally scheduled on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day will be collected on the next day of service.  All other collections will take place on schedule, regardless of the Holiday.
