Berkeley's Mobility Management Plan

The local climate action planning process that Measure G set in motion revealed that nearly half of the Berkeley community’s GHG emissions result from motor vehicles

In order for the community to achieve its stated GHG reduction target, these emissions must decline by approximately 30 percent by the year 2020.  This equates to an annual reduction of nearly 100,000 tons of carbon dioxide within the next 12 years.

Berkeley's Mobility Management Plan

The City is developing a comprehensive plan for sustainable mobility in Berkeley. The plan will serve as a guide for aggressively reducing vehicle miles traveled and the associated GHG emissions, while also improving community access to various transportation options.

City Car Share AccessMobile

Berkeley has the nation's first wheelchair-accessible van available for use by any City CarShare member. The van, known as the AccessMobile, increases travel options among those with disabilities. City CarShare and the City of Berkeley's AccessMobile received the Doris Kahn Accessible Transportation Award for this pioneering vehicle.

San Pablo Avenue - A Smart Transit Corridor

The City of Berkeley has been working with Alameda County Congestion Management Agency, Alameda County Transit Improvement Authority and AC Transit to ensure that San Pablo Avenue becomes a SMART transit corridor.  We have been installing new bus shelters, NextBus technology, improved pedestrian lighting, ADA improvements including audio safety mechanisms and new curb cuts, and commenced with an overall beautification effort.  Click here to see the San Pablo Corridor Map.
