The City of Berkeley Health Officer has ordered all residents to shelter at home, leaving only to receive or provide essential services, starting 12:01 am on Tuesday, March 17. PG&E is reporting a widespread outage affecting thousands of customers in Berkeley and many City buildings, including the Finance Customer Service Center and the Permit Service Center. Call respective City services for further details, or check the PG&E outage page. Power is expected to return by 12:45pm. Traffic lights that are not working should be treated as a four-way stop sign.

Child Health and Disability Prevention Program
(CHDP) 

The Child Health and Disability Prevention Program (CHDP) is a health promotion and disease prevention program serving income-eligible children.  Free periodic health assessments are available to low-income children through the CHDP Program.  Assistance getting treatment services and low-cost insurance for infants, children, and youth is also available. 


The purpose of the CHDP Program is to:BeAStar4

  • Offer preventive health services through CHDP providers that identify and prevent disease and disabilities among Medi-Cal and low-income infants, children and youth in Berkeley;
  • Provide links to doctors and dentists who provide preventive health exams and dental screenings for Medi-Cal and low income children;
  • Assistance getting treatment services;
  • Help with getting low cost health insurance
