Caregiver Support Group offers caregivers the chance to share experiences, learn new strategies, and voice concerns in a supportive environment.

Services for Caregivers

CaregiverIf you have recently become a caregiver of an older adult, or the senior in your life is facing new challenges, a case manager can help you develop caregiver strategies as well as a plan for self care.

Information & Assistance
Information and Assistance services can help link caregivers and care receivers to services and resources that can help.

Through one-on-one consultations, case managers provide basic education about issues that caregivers face.  Also, the Aging Services Division periodically provides groups and seminars for caregivers. Check out The Nugget, our monthly newsletter, for the latest classes and seminars available to caregivers.

Respite for Caregivers
The Senior Centers in Berkeley offer a safe, welcoming environment for seniors who are able to manage their self-care. A nutritious, low-sodium lunch is served Monday through Friday, and each center offers many social and educational opportunities. Both senior centers provide transport to and from the Center for Berkeley residents. Caregivers can meet with staff at the senior center to learn about programs at the centers, and discuss senior’s needs.

Support Groups
Caregiver support groups provide a venue for caregivers to share experiences, reduce isolation, and make connections with other. Caregivers can learn new strategies, receive and provide emotional support, and find out about available resources.
