PG&E is reporting a widespread outage affecting thousands of customers in Berkeley and many City buildings, including the Finance Customer Service Center and the Permit Service Center. Call respective City services for further details, or check the PG&E outage page. Power is expected to return by 12:45pm. Traffic lights that are not working should be treated as a four-way stop sign.

Meals on Wheels is now delivering meals on Mondays, Wednesday, and Fridays:

  • Monday, a chilled meal is sent for that day, and a frozen meal for Tuesday
  • Wednesday, a chilled meal is sent for that day, and a frozen meal for Thursday
  • Friday, a chilled meal is sent for that day, and two frozen meals for the weekend
We have implemented no-contact deliveries due to COVID-19 and are taking other precautions to protect community health. If you need assistance bringing meals into your home, we request that you wear a face covering during the delivery.

Image: Meals on Wheels ProgramMeals on Wheels has been providing home-delivered, well balanced meals to Berkeley, Albany, and Emeryville homebound seniors for more than 35 years.  

Homebound seniors (60 years of age or older) unable to prepare a balanced meal themselves or who have no one available to prepare a meal for them are eligible for the Meals on Wheel program.  Clients must participate in quarterly home and phone assessments to remain eligible.  If you are interested in participating in this program please contact:
