PG&E is reporting a widespread outage affecting thousands of customers in Berkeley and many City buildings, including the Finance Customer Service Center and the Permit Service Center. Medical Cannabis Dispensary Application Information

THE PERIOD FOR APPLYING FOR THE FOURTH MEDICAL CANNABIS DISPENSARY ENDED ON MARCH 20, 2015. NO APPLICATIONS ARE BEING ACCEPTED AT THIS TIME.

Interested in applying for the 4th medical cannabis dispensary?  

The 60 day application period for dispensary applications will end on Friday, March 20th at 4:00pm. Complete applications must be submitted and initial $828 fee paid at this time. Plans need to be submitted to the Zoning Counter at the Permit Service Center, 2120 Milvia Street.

The competency test is tentatively scheduled for Monday, April 13 and/or Tuesday, April 14. All principals must be prepared to take this test in person on either of these days. The test will primarily test knowledge of state and local medical cannabis regulations.  For information on the City of Berkeley's rules and regulations for the operation of a dispensary, please read Berkeley Municipal Code Chapters 12.26 and 12.27.  For information on state regulations, see the 2008 California Department of Justice Guidelines for the Security and Non-Diversion of Marijuana Grown for Medical Use and Senate Bill 420 (Medical Marijuana Program Act).

For information on the location of existing schools and legally established dispensaries, see the Dispensary Buffer Map.  Please note that dispensaries can only be located on parcels that are entirely within a commercial district.  If a portion of a parcel is within the 600-foot radius of a school or dispensary, the entire parcel will be ineligible as a new dispensary location.
