Bulky Waste Pick-up Guidelines

The City of Berkeley offers 1 Bulky Waste Pick-up per calendar year for single-family homes and multi-unit residential buildings up to 4 units. Advance appointments are required, and must be scheduled by the property owner. Bulky appointments are made for Wednesdays only.

To participate in the Bulky Waste Pick-up Service:

Quantity Limit: The maximum amount of trash per residence is 3 cubic yards (9' x 3' x 3'). This is the equivalent of 20 large (32-gallon) garbage bags. If your material exceeds this limit, you may be charged a fee for the additional amount.

Appointment Day Instructions: Set out materials curbside by 7:00 am on your Pick-up appointment day. Do not set out material more than 1 day ahead of your Pick-up appointment.

Set-out Location: Place your material at the curb. Material will NOT be collected from private property. Please do not block the sidewalk. Ideal placement is on the parking strip between the street and the sidewalk.

Pre-Paid Extra Refuse & Plant Debris Bags: can be purchased throughout the City at locations listed under Extra Pick-up Bags in this link: www.cityofberkeley.info/refuse/#MissedPickups
