BE A STAR Program

BE A STAR* is a City of Berkeley program that works with parents, guardians, state subsidized childcare centers and pediatric health care providers to offer developmental screenings for children birth to five. We help families get access to the resources that will help support their children’s growth and help them reach kindergarten prepared to learn.

A Healthy Start for Every Child

(BE A STAR* = Behavioral, Emotional, Assessment, Treatment and Referral)

BE A STAR focuses on supporting families by helping them identify their strengths and assets as parents, as well as identifying any physical, emotional, or developmental challenges their children have that could lead to developmental delays later on. This program is carried out in partnership with multiple agencies, including, Help Me Grow Alameda CountyBerkeley/Albany YMCA/Head Start, and City of Berkeley's 20/20 Vision for Berkeley Children and Youth.

Cost for Services:  No Charge
