BERKELEY CIVIC ARTS PROGRAM

The Civic Arts Program administers and develops projects which accomplish the mission of the Civic Arts Commission, which advises the City Council on all matters affecting the beauty and culture of the city.

CURRENT CIVIC ARTS UPDATES  

CIVIC ARTS GRANTS FOR FISCAL YEAR 2019/2020 
The Civic Arts Grant Applications Deadline was April 25, 2019. The grant review process is underway. Applicants are encouraged to attend the Grant Review Panel meeting for their application which will be held during normal City business hours and will be publicly accessible.

DOWNTOWN BERKELEY PLAZA
Running from April 18 through July 17, 2019, the downtown BART plaza features a new immersive sound installation called "Berkeley Rain" by composer and sound artist Edmund J. Campion. “Berkeley Rain” is a site specific music composition and sound installation created for the Berkeley BART Plaza.  

CIVIC CENTER ART EXHIBITION
Each year the City of Berkeley celebrates the richness of artistic production within the Berkeley community with the Civic Center Art Exhibition. This year 31 Berkeley-based artists were selected through a juried process for exhibition in the Martin Luther King Jr. Civic Center Building.

NORTH BERKELEY SENIOR CENTER PUBLIC ART PROJECT 
The North Berkeley Senior Center will be undergoing renovations. Through T1 Bond funding there will be new art at the entrance of the Senior Center to beautify the space and make it welcoming.
