PG&E is reporting a widespread outage affecting thousands of customers in Berkeley and many City buildings, including the Finance Customer Service Center and the Permit Service Center. On July 31, 2012, the City Council took action to create a subcommittee on the issue of the potential sale of the Berkeley Main Post Office.  The subcommittee is comprised of Mayor Tom Bates, Councilmember Jesse Arreguin, Councilmember Susan Wengraf, and Councilmember Laurie Capitelli.
