PG&E is reporting a widespread outage affecting thousands of customers in Berkeley and many City buildings, including the Finance Customer Service Center and the Permit Service Center. Call respective City services for further details, or check the PG&E outage page. Power is expected to return by 12:45pm. Traffic lights that are not working should be treated as a four-way stop sign.

 JOINT SUBCOMMITTEE FOR THE IMPLEMENTATION OF STATE HOUSING LAWS

The City of Berkeley Health Officer has ordered residents to shelter in place through May 3, leaving only to receive or provide essential services. City facilities are closed to the public.

In response to the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic, new limitations have been placed on city boards and commissions by recommendation of Berkeley's Public Health Officer and Director of Emergency Services. This commission will only meet if the Director of Emergency Services determines there is time-sensitive, legally-mandated business to complete. Information regarding upcoming meetings will be posted on this page and on the community calendar.

  

Mission:

Advises Council regarding issues around density bonuses, the Housing Accountability Act, inclusionary zoning, and permit streamlining to attain compliance with state law and take advantage of new opportunities for the development of affordable housing.  Members to be appointed from the members of the Zoning Adjustments Board, Planning Commission, and Housing Advisory Commission, with at least one appointee from each, in accordance with the Fair Representation Act. The Committee shall complete its work by July 2020.
