PG&E is reporting a widespread outage affecting thousands of customers in Berkeley and many City buildings, including the Finance Customer Service Center and the Permit Service Center. Call respective City services for further details, or check the PG&E outage page. Power is expected to return by 12:45pm. Traffic lights that are not working should be treated as a four-way stop sign.

Free event has activities for all ages

Berkeley, California (Tuesday, October 26, 2021) - Kids and adults alike can come out and enjoy carnival games, a costume contest, food trucks, a live DJ and more at a Halloween-themed event featuring a chance to roller skate your heart out.

Set on Grove Park's renovated basketball and tennis courts, the City of Berkeley's free Halloween Roller Skate BOOgie gives everyone in your family to join neighbors and community members another way to celebrate Halloween together in one of our treasures: our parks.

Skate, parade and compete

Calling all ghouls for some family fun before a night of tricks and treats. Come on down and get your BOOgie on with us (zombies welcome).

Roller Skating - Please bring your own roller skates. (Scooters, skateboards and bikes will not be allowed in the skating area.)

Costume Parade - 1:00pm - Take a short walk around Grove Park with your costumed friends and neighbors. 

Costume Contest  - 2:00 pm - Show off your favorite costumes and compete in the categories below:

  • Scariest Costume: Ages 0-2, 3-4, 5-6, 7-8, 9+, Family
  • Cutest Costume: Ages 0-2, 3-4, 5-6, 7-8, 9+, Family
  • Most Creative: Ages 0-2, 3-4, 5-6, 7-8, 9+, Family

Winners from each category (1st, 2nd, and 3rd place) will receive certificates and ribbons. Trophies will be given to first place winners!

Activities - Play on large inflatable jumpers including "Black Beards Ship." Grab a bite from food trucks including "Mister Softee" ice cream. Take free photo booth pictures for those Halloween keepsakes. Try your hand at carnival games and win prizes.

This event is organized by the City of Berkeley's Parks, Recreation, and Waterfront Department. The Recreation Division offers dozens of camps, classes, and other activities for participants of all ages.
