Berkeley, California (Monday, May 10, 2021) - On May 6th at 7:52 am, officers responded to Durant Avenue (just east of Milvia Street) on a report of a disturbance at a nearby encampment.  When officers arrived, they dispute had already ended and the people remaining requested no further service from officers.

At 10:04 am, officers were summoned to the same location on a report of possible gunfire.  When officers arrived, they learned that a man in his 20’s was standing outside of his tent when a silver sedan vehicle pulled-up with three suspects inside.  While one of the suspects pointed a handgun at the man, the other two suspects got out of the vehicle and approached the man.  When the man ran away from the suspects, one of the suspects fired a bullet at the man—missing him.  The suspects then left the area (Case 2021-00019970).

On May 7th at 1:32 am, officers responded to the 1800 block of 63rd Street on a report of gunfire.  When officers arrived they learned that after a theft occurred at a nearby Oakland residence, the resident followed after the suspect(s) as they drove away from the scene.  When the suspects reached the area of Adeline Avenue and Alcatraz Avenue, the suspect(s) shot at the man who was following them in his own vehicle. The man stopped following the suspect(s), and they were last seen driving away southbound on Adeline Street at a high-rate of speed in a green sedan (Case 2021-00020109).

If you have any information about these incidents, please contact BPD’s Homicide Unit at (510) 981-5741.
