Berkeley, California (Monday, February 08, 2021) - On January 29th at 3:37 pm, officers responded to a report of an armed robbery inside Civic Center Park. According witnesses, the suspect was last seen running inside the Community Resource Center at 1931 Center Street. When officers arrived, they formed a perimeter around the area and directed everyone to exit onto Center Street. While people were exiting the building, officers were able to detain the suspect as he exited the building.
When officers recovered the suspect’s backpack from within the building, they also found the handgun used in the robbery.
On February 2nd, the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office charged the suspect (a 27-year-old man, no address) with violation of PC 25400(a)(2)—carrying a concealed firearm and PC 25400(c)(6)—criminal enhancement.
