Help co-create a framework for improving racial equity in service delivery
Berkeley, California (Thursday, January 28, 2021) - Update Feb. 1, 2021: An online town hall meeting scheduled for Thursday Feb. 4 has been postponed, but will be rescheduled to help the City identify more opportunities to improve racial equity in City services.
Help us identify opportunities to improve racial equity in City services at an online town hall Thursday, February 4.
Racial and social equity have long been core values in our work as a City. Nonetheless, we know that Berkeley is not immune to the deep, systemic inequities present across our nation. As we continuously strive to improve equity in service delivery, we want to engage our community in an open dialogue and hear from you directly about what's working, where we can improve, and what we can do to best bring marginalized voices into the conversation.
Help co-create a framework at online town hall

Online Town Hall: Race, Equity, and Belonging
Thursday, February 4, 2021 6-8pm
Join on Zoom
Phone: 1-888-475-4499; Meeting ID 838 3359 2130
After a panel discussion focused on what race and equity means in terms of City services, we'll break into small groups where community members can share their own experiences and vision.
We'll ask about what services you see as working well now from a race and equity perspective, what needs to change, what it would look like to you for the City to truly achieve racial equity in service delivery, and how we can best engage our whole community in these discussions going forward.
If you're not able to attend, we invite you to share your comments by emailing equity@cityofberkeley.info.
Town Hall is one step in an ongoing dialogue
Systemic change requires an ongoing commitment to working together to listen and understand each other. This event builds on a conversation that began in June, with the online town hall Race, Health and Policing in a Time of Pandemic.
Your feedback at this event will help inform the shape these dialogues take moving forward, as we strive to build on Berkeley's long legacy at the forefront of movements for justice and social change and work collaboratively with community members to advance the City's strategic plan goal to "champion and demonstrate social and racial equity."
Please share this event widely.
