USE HOUSING SURVEY TO HELP CURB DISCRIMINATION, INCREASE PROTECTIONS
survey ends Aug. 23; attend community meeting on Aug. 13 to learn more

Berkeley, California (Friday, August 02, 2019) - Fill out a survey about your housing situation - and spread the word to others -- and you'll help the City of Berkeley and Alameda County better understand hurdles to housing and work to increase access.

Survey results will be collected for a report analyzing discrimination and other hurdles to housing. The goal is to use this information to help guide housing policies and housing goals in Berkeley and the rest of the county.

Please take this 10-15 minute survey, which will be open until August 23, 2019. It's also available in Spanish (Español) and Traditional Chinese (中文).

You can also attend a community meeting in Berkeley for an in-depth discussion of these issues.

Fair Housing Meeting
Tuesday, August 13, 2019
1:00-3:00 p.m.
Berkeley Central Library
3rd Floor Community Meeting Room
2090 Kittredge Street, Berkeley, CA 94704
Please RSVP online to attend the workshop

As a condition of receiving federal Community Development Block Grant funds, communities and states must certify that they are affirmatively furthering fairness and equal opportunity in housing for individuals and groups protected by the federal Fair Housing Act of 1968 and its amendments.

This report, known as a Regional Analysis of Impediments, analyzes current conditions that may have the effect of restricting housing choice for people protected under State and federal fair housing laws. This analysis not only identifies impediments to fair housing choice, but also makes recommendations to overcome the effects of those impediments. It also serves as the basis for fair housing planning, providing essential information to staff, policy makers, housing providers, lenders, and fair housing advocates, and assisting with garnering community support for fair housing efforts.

Let us know your thoughts on how to achieve a City and county where all community members thrive. Fill out the survey today and pass it along to others.
