Complete against kids from around the city

Berkeley, California (Tuesday, May 28, 2019) - Girls and boys from age 8 to 18 year-olds (still in high school) can play in a 3-on-3 basketball tournament for a chance to see which trio can be Berkeley’s playground basketball champs.

The 8th Annual Bill & Celina Rose 3-on-3 Youth Basketball Tournament will be on June 1st at San Pablo Park, 2800 Park Street. The tournament will have five age-based divisions to ensure fairness, and every basketball team is guaranteed at least two games. Sign up as a team of up to four, or sign up as an individual or duo to be placed with others.

Participants will receive a tournament jersey, catered lunch, a free basketball, and raffle tickets for an opportunity to win other prizes. Division champions will receive a championship ring! But the real thrill will be going up against friends, neighbors and community members to see who the best is at 3-on-3! The first tip-off for round-robin play will be at 10am. Our single elimination championship round will begin after lunch.

Until May 30, register online or at the Recreation Customer Service Hub (2701 Telegraph Ave). If you don’t make that cut-off date, we will take some walk-up registration for available spaces starting at 8:30am on the day of the event. There will be divisions for those under 18, 16, 14, 12 and 10 years old. Free to Berkeley residents, non-residents pay $5 to participate.

The morning session will consist of round robin play, followed by a three point shooting contest (sign up online: $2 fee for 10-13 year olds, $5 fee for 14-18 year olds), and finishing with a single elimination championship round. Youth ages 5-7 year olds will have the opportunity to learn from City of Berkley Youth Hoops and Twilite Basketball coaches during our Mini-Skills clinic, where kids will learn how to dribble, shoot and pass.

This tournament honors Bill & Celina Rose, who were longtime pillars of the San Pablo Park community and were instrumental in the addition of the three, full-size outdoor basketball courts. The tournament started in 2012, soon after the courts were refurbished.

Don’t delay, register today and be a part of the fun. Join us in cheering our youth as they battle for the championship.
