10-15 minute online survey closes April 10

Berkeley, California (Monday, March 19, 2018) - We're looking for Berkeleyans age 50 and over to take a survey on how Berkeley can address key issues that can enhance seniors' ability to thrive while aging in our community.

Your anonymous feedback will be used to help guide a plan to make Berkeley more "age-friendly," a community that meets the needs of all ages.

The plan, which will seek other community input in the coming months, seeks to identify pressing community issues and proposed goals for:

  • outdoor spaces and buildings
  • transportation
  • housing
  • social participation
  • respect and social inclusion
  • civic participation and employment
  • communication and information
  • community and health services

If you live in Berkeley and are age 50 or over, please complete the anonymous survey about your top concerns and priorities. The survey, which will close on April 10, should take 10 - 15 minutes to complete.

The results will be discussed at a community forum in late spring.

The City of Berkeley's effort to create an "Age Friendly Berkeley" is a collaborative partnership with community partners including the Center for Independent Living, Ashby Village and Lifelong Medical Center. The final report will be made available to the public in November, 2018. It will also be submitted to the World Health Organization, which in 2016 brought Berkeley into a worldwide network of Aging Friendly Cities.

Let us know your thoughts on how to create a City of Berkeley where older adults can stay and thrive. Fill out the anonymous survey today.
