PG&E is reporting a widespread outage affecting thousands of customers in Berkeley and many City buildings, including the Finance Customer Service Center and the Permit Service Center. Call respective City services for further details, or check the PG&E outage page. Power is expected to return by 12:45pm. Traffic lights that are not working should be treated as a four-way stop sign.

Berkeley, California (Friday, October 20, 2017) - Artists live or work in Berkeley can apply for Civic Center Juried Art Exhibition a celebration of Berkeley's thriving culture of artists. 

A jury will select the works of approximately 30 artists for display in public areas of the Martin Luther King Civic Center Building, located at 2180 Milvia Street.

There is no entry fee to apply and accepted artists will receive an honorarium of $150 each. View  the guidelines to see the submission form and other details.

This annual exhibition is an expression of the key role that art plays in the life of the city and in the economic vitality of the community. It is managed by the City of Berkeley Public Art Program and funded by the 1.5% for art assessed on construction of City-owned properties. The Kala Art Institute, the Civic Arts Commission and Civic Arts Coordinator collaborate to produce this annual show.

An opening to celebrate the artists will take place in the Fall of 2017, and the art will be on display for approximately one year. The public will be invited to enjoy music and refreshments, hear an address by the Mayor, and tour the exhibit.
