Celebrating 10 years of serving Berkeley

Berkeley, California (Thursday, October 05, 2017) - Those who live in, work in or visit Berkeley can quickly access City of Berkeley services, report problems or request information by dialing 3-1-1.

Dialing 311 inside city limits on a mobile or landline phone connects you to a person, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Dial 981-2489 when outside of City boundaries. Through a third party translation service, we handle inquiries in multiple languages.

Many questions and requests can also be resolved online at cityofberkeley.info/311, where you can set up refuse service, schedule inspections, apply for zoning permits, make payments and request City Services.

Now in our tenth year of serving Berkeley, 311 staff use their decades of experience to respond quickly, track requests and handle the City's broad array of services. That includes topics ranging from garbage and streets to birth certificates.

In 2017, 311 staff responded to 112,668 community requests that included topics ranging from garbage and streets to birth certificates and parking meters.  They answer questions about services like recycling, and graffiti removal.

311 staff can help you apply for licenses for your business or residential parking. They help people report problems, such as issues with streets, sidewalks, broken parking meters or illegal dumping. They can also process payments, such as for parking citations, the marina berthing fees or fire inspection fees.
