3-ON-3 BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT FOR GIRLS AND BOYS
Cheer on the champs of Berkeley's courts

Berkeley, California (Friday, May 26, 2017) - Girls and boys from age 8 to 18 year-olds still in high school can play in a 3-on-3 basketball tournament, a chance to see which trio can be Berkeley's playground basketball champs.

The 6th Annual Bill & Celina Rose 3-on-3 Youth Basketball Tournament will be on June 3 at San Pablo Park, 2800 Park Street. The tournament will have five age-based divisions to ensure fairness, and every team will have at least two games. Sign up as a team of up to five, or sign up as an individual or duo to be placed with others. Basketball

Participants will receive a tournament t-shirt and other prizes. But the real thrill will be going up against friends, neighbors and community members to see who are the best at 3-on-3! The first tip-off for the round-robin rounds will be at 10am. Elimination games will follow.

Register online at www.cityofberkeley.info/recreation, at the Willard Pool Recreation Hub (2701 Telegraph Ave) or at the MLK Jr. Youth Services Center (1730 Oregon St.). Check-in and walk-up registration for available spaces will begin at 9 am on game day. There will be divisions for those under 18, 16, 14, 12 and 10 years old. Free to Berkeleyans, non-residents pay $5 to participate.

The morning session will consist of a Round Robin format, followed by a three point shooting contest ( sign up online: $2 fee for 10-13 year olds, $5 fee for 14-18 year olds), and finishing with a single elimination championship round. Youth ages 5-7 year olds will have the opportunity to learn from City of Berkley Youth Hoops and Twilite Basketball Coaches during our Mini-Skills clinic, where kids can learn how to dribble, shoot and pass.

This tournament honors Bill & Celina Rose, who were longtime pillars of the San Pablo Park community and were instrumental in the addition of the three, full-size outdoor basketball courts. The tournament started in 2012, soon after the courts were refurbished.

Don't delay, register today and be a part of the fun. Join us in cheering our youth as they battle for the championship.
