Berkeley, California (Thursday, April 06, 2017) - Show us photos of the Berkeley you love. We will display and credit winning photos on our home page.

Submit photos that convey what excites you about living, working or going to school in Berkeley. Is it a garden or park? An iconic view? Do you love particular architecture or buildings? Is it the diversity of people who are encountered at community events?Photo Contest

See examples of the photos we've chosen on our home page, cityofberkeley.info

All entries must be of high resolution and must be submitted electronically in a .jpeg, .jpg or .gif format.

Since photos files can be large, the most efficient way to submit photos is by creating a folder on FlickrBoxDropbox  or Google Drive. Email a link to a folder to photos@cityofberkeley.info.

If you include people in your submission, obtain the necessary releases from the individuals depicted and provide copies of those releases to the City with your submission. Download photo release forms in English or Spanish.

All images must be submitted by Friday April 28, 2017 via email to photos@cityofberkeley.info. Please include your name, email address, phone number, and a brief description of your shot.

Photos will be judged on how well they portray the "spirit of Berkeley." All potential winners will be revealed online within 15 days of the DEADLINE. The City will notify the winner via the email address provided at the time of entry.

Your photographs will help the City create a photo archive for official use. You will retain copyright to any photograph you submit.

If you submit a photograph to enter the Photo Contest, you grant the City of Berkeley a royalty-free, nonexclusive right, in perpetuity, to:

  • Display the photograph in online publications, on the City's webpage, and in social media posts
  • Use the photograph in internal and external communications materials including but not limited to fact sheets, newsletters, slide shows, displays, reports and other print materials
  • Retain a digital copy of your photograph that may be archived in the City's photo library and accessible to City staff for the purposes enumerated above
  • The City will credit all photographs with a caption containing the person's name

Send us your photos! We're excited about seeing -- and sharing -- the photos that speak to you about why you love Berkeley!
