Berkeley, California (Thursday, February 16, 2017) -   On 2/16/17 at 4:11am, the Berkeley Police Communications Center received a report of a suspicious person in the area of Grant Street and University Avenue who appeared to be casing parked cars. Officers responded and stopped prolific burglar Vanderrick Vickers 36, of Berkeley.  While searching Vickers, officers found suspected methamphetamine and credit cards in someone else's name in his pockets.  A Patrol Sergeant checked the name on the credit cards and traced their owner to a residence on the 2100 block of Sacramento Street.  Officers were dispatched to that address where they found evidence of a recent auto burglary.

Vickers was arrested for possession of stolen property, auto burglary, prowling, and possession of methamphetamine.

This arrest would not have been possible without the support of an engaged and aware Community.  The Berkeley Police Department would like to remind everyone to be alert to suspicious activities and to immediately call 510-981-5900.
