PG&E is reporting a widespread outage affecting thousands of customers in Berkeley and many City buildings, including the Finance Customer Service Center and the Permit Service Center. Call respective City services for further details, or check the PG&E outage page. Power is expected to return by 12:45pm. Traffic lights that are not working should be treated as a four-way stop sign.

BPD: HELP US IDENTIFY THIS BURGLARY SUSPECT

Berkeley, California (Wednesday, February 15, 2017) -   The suspect pictured here is responsible for an auto burglary that took place in a parking lot in the 900 block of Heinz Avenue on 2/9/17 between the hours of 6:30-7:00pm.  The suspect was filmed by surveillance cameras on two separate occasions driving the same getaway vehicle.  He was first seen on 1/11/17 at about 8:00pm casing cars (in the same parking lot) and then again on the February 9th when he burglarized a parked car.  The suspect’s vehicle appears to be a newer model, black Mercedes four door with paper plates and chrome rims.

The suspect is a heavyset, black male adult with a dark complexion, between 22 and 32 years old.  In the photo from February 9th he’s wearing a "Kansas City Royals” baseball cap, black jacket with white logo over a white T-shirt. In the picture from January 11th he’s clad in a blue and red hooded sweatshirt over a white hat.   

Detectives are asking the community’s help in identifying this suspect.  If you have information regarding this case you are encouraged to call the Berkeley Police Property Crimes Detail at (510) 981-5737.
