Berkeley, California (Thursday, November 03, 2016) - On October 28th at 11:23pm, Berkeley Police responded to an allegation of child abuse against the family’s Nanny.  The Officer responded to the scene and made contact with the parents of the 6 month old boy who provided video from their in home surveillance system which depicted physical violence against the infant.  The child was examined and released from a local hospital with no apparent injuries.

The suspect was taken into custody in Berkeley on Monday October 31st while in route to another child care job by Berkeley Police Special Victims Unit Detectives.  Arrested was Ingrid Perez 44, of Richmond.  Perez was charged yesterday by the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office with one misdemeanor and one felony count of Child Abuse. 

Perez has worked as a nanny for a number of different families for over 10 years.  Those who she has worked for recently as a shared nanny have all been contacted to ensure that their children were not harmed.  We are asking the community to contact us if they have any additional information regarding this case.  Please contact Detective Kelly with the BPD Special Victim’s Unit at (510) 981-4760.
