A CALL FOR BERKELEY'S BEST ART
Application Deadline is June 20

Berkeley, California (Monday, June 13, 2016) - Artists live or work in Berkeley can apply for Civic Center Juried Art Exhibition a celebration of Berkeley's thriving culture of artists.

A jury will select the works of approximately 30 artists for display in public areas of the Martin Luther King Civic Center Building, located at 2180 Milvia Street. There is no entry fee to apply and accepted artists will receive an honorarium of $150 each. View the submission form for guidelines and more details.

This annual exhibition is an expression of the key role that art plays in the life of the city and in the economic vitality of the community. It is managed by the City of Berkeley Public Art Program and funded by the 1.5% for art assessed on construction of City-owned properties. The Berkeley Art Center, Kala Art Institute, the Civic Arts Commission and Civic Arts Coordinator collaborate to produce this annual show.

An opening  to celebrate the artists will take place in the Fall of 2016, and the art will be on display through August 2017. The public will be invited to enjoy music and refreshments, hear an address by the Mayor, and tour the exhibit.

Deadline: Monday, June 20, 2016 by 5:00 pm
