Pilot Period Will be for Meetings from March 15 to May 31

Berkeley, California (Friday, February 26, 2016) - Berkeley City Council meetings will temporarily move to the Berkeley Unified School District's board room, a venue that handles crowds double the size of the existing location while offering increased seismic safety and easier access for those with limited mobility.

The first Council meeting in the board room will be March 15 and will extend until May 31, under terms of a pilot program approved by the BUSD board Wednesday February 24.

The meeting room at the corner of Addison Street and Browning Street is in close proximity to North Berkeley BART, and several AC Transit lines. It offers ample, free parking.

From University Avenue, enter at 1222 University Avenue and come through the courtyard to the meeting room. From the parking lot on Browning Street, enter the board room through the entrance on Addison Street between Bonar and Browning.

The agendas 6 p.m. Special Meeting and 7p.m. regular meeting have been posted online.

The change of venue for Council meetings will not affect Zoning Adjustments Board or Rent Board meetings, which will continue to meet at Old City Hall, 2134 Martin Luther King Jr. Way.
