PANORAMIC HILL TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS LIFTED

Berkeley, California (Tuesday, January 19, 2016) - Update- All Panoramic Hill traffic restrictions have been lifted

All Panoramic Hill traffic restrictions have been lifted and the power has been restored according to PG&E. The City of Berkeley appreciates the assistance provided by its partners to run the Panoramic Hill relief area last night: UC Berkeley provided facilities and the Red Cross for provided snacks and beverages to waiting community members. The City also thanks the Panoramic Hill residents for their patience during this incident. Any residents experiencing electrical issues are instructed to call PG&E for information and assistance: 1-800-743-5000.

Vehicle access to Panoramic Hill will remain restricted throughout the evening as PG&E repairs damaged power poles and lines.
Traffic is blocked at the intersection of Panoramic Way, Bancroft Way, and Canyon Road. Vehicles will be allowed into and out of the affected area at hourly intervals.
UC Berkeley is providing the Prospect Court Parking Lot (Gate 6) as a relief area for those waiting to enter on Panoramic Way. Parking and restrooms will be available, along with beverages and snacks provided by the American Red Cross.
If you do not have electricity and have a medical need that depends on electricity, please call Pacific Gas and Electric’s public number: 1-800-743-5000 for assistance. If you have a medical emergency, call 911.

The Panoramic Way shelter in place order has been lifted. There is no active threat to residents in the Panoramic Way neighborhood. 

While PG&E works to restore power, vehicular traffic is restricted at the intersection of Canyon Road, Bancroft Way, and Panoramic Way. Emergency traffic is being allowed through but normal traffic is still prohibited until further notice.

This is the Berkeley Emergency Notification System at 10:30 A.M. Due to multiple downed active power lines on Panoramic Way, the Berkeley Fire Department recommends that all persons on Panoramic Way shelter in place until further notice. Stay away from downed power lines.
