BERKELEY RECREATION ACTIVITIES TO EASE THE WINTER

Berkeley, California (Friday, January 08, 2016) - Find classes, activities and events for adults, kids and families in the Recreation Division's Winter & Spring Activity Guide, which has programs throughout the City.

The various activities take place at the City's sporting fields, tennis courts, Community Centers, Aquatics Facilities and at our Skate Park. There is something for everyone, whether it's playing adult softball, training your new puppy, swimming laps at the pool, or learning video game design.

Visit www.cityofberkeley.info/activity_guide, a page that's also updated in the summer and the fall.

For children 1- to 5-years-old, the City offers numerous Tots and Pre-K programs, including the free Together Wee Play drop-in program, a safe, fun, and exciting place for parents and caregivers to learn and play with their children.

For adults, we support physical activity and wellness through classes such as Kendo (Japanese Swordsmanship), yoga, Zumba, and Hoop-Dance. In the Aquatics Program you can swim for fitness, take private swim lessons, or just enjoy a dip in the pool during public swim. Adult sports include boxing, basketball, volleyball and more.

Our Teen programs offer a fun and safe environment for social and recreational activities like cooking, dancing, open gym basketball, and weight room training.

In addition, start planning for several special events in the Spring. Do the Bunny Hop and search for eggs at the Spring Egg Hunt Extravaganza on March 26th, or enjoy a day by the Bay, boating, searching for crabs on the shoreline, or listening to music at the Berkeley Bay Festival on April 16th. The kids can join in some friendly competition, swimming, biking, and running at the Kids Triathlon on May 14th, or shooting hoops at the Bill & Celina Rose 3-on-3 Youth Basketball Tournament on June 4th.

Registration for Summer 2016 programs begins January 20th. Your children will thank you for signing them up for Berkeley Day Camp, swim lessons, youth marine biology and boating classes, youth sports, Echo Lake Overnight Youth Camp and more.

Browse the Activity Guide and register for activities at www.cityofberkeley.info/recreation. For more information visit our Recreation Office at 2701 Telegraph Avenue in Berkeley or call (510)-981-5150.
