Berkeley, California (Monday, May 02, 2011) - Addison Street Windows Gallery presents timely documentary photographs by David Bacon about migration to the United States from Mexico and Central America. Photographer, journalist and longtime labor organizer David Bacon captures the reality of the American migrant experience -- the creation of "transnational communities."

Bacon's candid and forthright portrayal of communities of indigenous migrants from Mexico, now living in rural California towns and working in the fields, put a human face on the political controversy of immigration. Images also show the social movements in Mexico that challenge the poverty and community displacement that make migration a question of basic human survival.

The photographs take us inside these communities and illuminate the ties that bind people together, the influence of their working conditions on their families, their health and their collective and personal struggles for better lives.

Exhibits in the Addison Street Windows Gallery, located on Addison Street between Milvia Street and Shattuck Avenue in Berkeley's downtown Arts District, can be viewed 24 hours a day from the sidewalk, are free and wheelchair accessible.
