Get ready to submit your application and resume in October!

Berkeley, California (Wednesday, September 24, 2008) - This school year, the City of Berkeley's YouthWorks program will place approximately 125 Berkeley youth in after-school jobs that last up to 8 weeks from mid-December through early February.  

The application period for 2008/2009 is October 1 through October 31* and teens who are at least 14 are invited to apply.

Teens and families can attend one of two workshops to help prepare for the process, including getting direct assistance with their application and resume. Youth must be at least 14 years of age at the time of application.

South Berkeley Senior Center, 2939 Ellis Street    
6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.

Monday October 6, 2008
West Berkeley Senior Center, 1900 6th Street       
6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.

Workshops begin promptly at 6:30, so please be on time. All other material will be provided.

Although these workshops are focused on younger teens who are new to the job application process, we also have job and training opportunities for youth 18 - 25 years old. Call the Youthworks office (981-4970) for more information about these and other job programs.

*Please note City offices closures on Monday October 13, 2008 (Indigenous Peoples' Day) and Friday October 24, 2008 (regularly scheduled Reduced Service Day).
